Fresh coffee beans from strangford coffee.

Why we roast in Strangford

Strangford is a small village on the shores of a sea lough in County Down, Northern Ireland. It has a castle, a ferry, a handful of pubs, and — since 2019 — a coffee roastery.

We started small. One roaster, one range, a direct line between us and the farms we buy from. That hasn't changed. Every coffee we sell is sourced direct — single origins traceable to the farm, blends built here in the roastery — roasted to order and shipped the same week it's roasted.

The roastery sits on The Slip, right on the water. On a clear morning you can see across to the Mourne Mountains. On a less clear morning — which is most mornings — you can hear the tide. That's the rhythm we roast to.

Why we roast in small batches

Most coffee you buy in a supermarket was roasted months ago. It sat in a warehouse, then a distribution centre, then a shelf. By the time it reached you, a significant part of what made it interesting had gone.

We roast in small batches because freshness isn't a marketing claim — it's a flavour difference you can actually taste. Our subscribers get coffee that went from roaster to bag within 24 hours of roasting. It ships the same week.

What we roast

We carry single origins from Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, and Peru — sourced from farms and cooperatives we know and trust. We also build our own signature blends in-house: Seven Knots, Swan Island, Zara Shoal, Compass Hill, alongside our Signature Blend and the Brazil Santa Maria.

All available in 250g or 1kg bags, whole bean or ground. Subscriptions available with 30% off your first order and free delivery across the UK and Ireland on orders over £20.

The Coffee Port

If you're in Strangford, you can buy direct from the hatch at 2 The Slip. Fresh from that morning's roast. No packaging surcharge, no waiting. Just coffee.
