The blends: what's in them and why

We name our blends after the geography around the roastery. The narrows at Strangford, the islands in the Lough, the landmarks on the coastal path. It's not a branding exercise — these are places we see every day. It felt right to put them on the bags.

Here's what's in each blend, and what it's built for.

Seven Knots

Named after the seven-knot tidal current that rips through the narrows at Strangford — the strongest tidal flow in the British Isles. Dark roast. Full body. Treacle, roasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, dried fig. Built for people who want impact. Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil.

Swan Island

Swan Island is a stone's throw from the roastery. Every summer it's populated by Arctic terns — the animal that sees more daylight than any other on the planet. They breed here in summer, then migrate the full length of the Earth to Antarctica and back, following the sun between the two poles. Round trip: up to 60,000 miles. In a lifetime, the equivalent of three return trips to the moon.

Medium roast. Silky texture, soft acidity. Bittersweet chocolate, red apple, honey. The calm one — refined, worth slowing down for.

Zara Shoal

A rocky outcrop beside the Victorian baths on the coastal path — easy to miss if you don't know it's there. Medium-dark roast. Full and velvety. Chocolate fudge, toffee, toasted pecan, dried plum. Rooted, full-flavoured, built for people who like their coffee with real body.

Compass Hill

Between Zara Shoal and Swan Island on the Strangford shore — a landmark sailors and fishermen have used for navigation for centuries. Medium roast. Balanced. Milk chocolate, caramel, toasted almond. The coffee you keep stocked. Works every day without asking anything of you.

Signature Blend

The one that started it all. Medium roast, approachable, balanced. The coffee we built the roastery around. A reliable daily driver that works for everyone — the blend you recommend when someone asks where to start.
